About TakeHome
Independent Australian pay calculators that are exact, private and quick.
Who makes TakeHome
TakeHome is an independent project, built and maintained in Australia by one developer. It isn't owned by or affiliated with the Australian Taxation Office, any bank, super fund, payroll company or employer, and nobody pays to change what the calculators show.
Why it exists
TakeHome started from a simple frustration: most pay calculators either round the numbers, skip the details that actually change your pay, or bury the answer under ads. TakeHome shows both what your payslip says and what you really owe at tax time, using the same formulas employers and the ATO use.
How the numbers are checked
- Every rate, threshold and formula comes from the ATO, the legislation or Services Australia. The sources are listed on how we calculate.
- The calculation engine is tested against more than 1,500 values from the ATO's own sample data and worked examples, and has to match every one exactly.
- The figures are reviewed whenever the rules change: on Budget night in May, when the ATO publishes the new withholding schedules in June, and at the start of each financial year on 1 July. They were last reviewed on 28 September 2026.
Found a mistake?
Email hello@takehome.com.au with what you entered and the result you expected. The Share link button on the pay calculator copies all your inputs in one go. Every report is checked against the ATO's rules, and confirmed errors are fixed as soon as possible.
How TakeHome is funded
TakeHome is free to use. It's supported by a small number of clearly labelled ads, with no pop-ups, auto-playing video or ads that cover the page. It doesn't take payment to feature products or change results.
Your privacy
Everything runs in your browser. TakeHome doesn't ask for your name, email or employer, and the figures you enter never leave your device unless you share a link yourself. Read the privacy policy for details.
